Small Cell Compliance Engineering Inspection Internship - Department of Transportation and Infrastructure

Few other divisions of DOTI are involved in such a large variety of exciting and challenging projects, types of public space activities and uses, or the myriad of stakeholders as is the Right of Way Services (ROWS) Team. This team’s responsibility includes project plan review & permitting for capital infrastructure and private development, land use and shared mobility permitting, construction permitting and inspection, land surveying, and addressing.
DOTI Right of Way Services (ROWS) Engineering & Regulatory (ER) manages the City’s small cell program.  Small cells are regulated to the ROW by FCC and State law and is looking to hire a Small Cell Compliance Engineering Inspection Internship.  For this internship the Intern would utilize the City’s Small Cell map to assist in developing a strategic method of field checking a sampling of the 1,600 installed small cell sites throughout the City. 

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:
  • Perform field inspections of cell phone towers
  • Provide documentation and communication to contracts on non-compliant installations 
  • Creating and running reports to present findings
  • Analyzing data
  • Providing customer service; serving as an available resource to managers
  • Assisting with special projects

About You

Our ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Familiarity with construction projects and or construction plans
  • Will be proficient in MS Suite
  • Experience with use of maps and a strong sense of direction
  • Willing to learn and provide support to management
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Engaged by data systems and analysis

  • Education Requirement: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion)
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • License/Certification Requirement: By position, may require a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
