This position is located in the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition/Office of Regulations and Policy/Regulations Development Staff which is responsible for promoting and protecting the public's health by ensuring that the nation's food supply is safe, sanitary, wholesome, and honestly labeled, and that cosmetic products are safe and properly labeled.

  • Salary: $126,233 - $164,102 per year
  • Pay scale & grade: GS 14
  • Location: 3 vacancies in the following location: College Park, MD

Duties
  • Develops regulations, policies, and programs involving complex and high priority matters affecting the regulation of food and/or cosmetics.
  • Drafts or critically reviews documents related to policy and program proposals and decisions on food and/or cosmetics products.
  • Consults with staff at all levels of the Agency to develop regulations and other written statements of agency policy.

Qualifications
The position of Regulatory Counsel falls under the 0301 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-14, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 05/20/2022.

Minimum Qualifications
Specialized Experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service that includes experience: developing, reviewing, and ensuring that regulations, or laws, and other documents are consistent with statutory requirements; advising others on legal or regulatory compliance matters impacting public health; reviewing and assessing policies to determine the impact to issues; participating in strategic planning activities for the dissemination of information related to regulated products.
