Fleet Nuclear Fuel Coordinator

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a motivated Fleet Nuclear Fuel Coordinator (Business Professional) to join our Nuclear Materials Management & Criticality Control (NMM&CC) team in West Mifflin, PA!

As part of the team, the selected candidate will account for shipments of new nuclear fuel from the vendor to the shipyard, shipments of spent nuclear fuel from the shipyard to Department of Energy facilities, and account for the fuel utilization by the active fleet. These reports allow for forecasting the physical and financial needs of the fleet as they pertain to utilization of nuclear fuel. These reports are also used to facilitate the Navy making payments to the Department of Energy for nuclear fuel utilization.

Other areas of opportunity for this role include the support of nuclear material and accountability activities at the Bettis site. This includes performing audits, surveillances, and inspections to support demonstration of compliance to manuals approved by Naval Reactors. The selected candidate will also conduct monthly reporting of nuclear inventories, as well as working with the primary nuclear materials compliance engineer. Time will be spent in the laboratory spaces and the business professional will be interacting frequently with operations personnel in support of their day to day work. REQUIRED SKILLS *

Intermediate:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience 

Advanced:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience

PREFERRED SKILLS

Experience in the field of nuclear material control and accountability
Experience writing audits and reports
