Associate Director, Workplace Campaigns


United Way of Greater Cleveland is a “Flexible First” organization. “Flexible First” means that we embrace a hybrid model that allows employees to work both remotely and at our existing office. Employees will regularly work at our existing office for approximately 10 to 80 percent of their time each month based on business/operational needs, and the rest of the time they may work from a remote physical location of their choice within a reasonable commuting distance from the office which must be identified to the organization in advance. Human Resources and Hiring Manager will set expectations on the employee’s preferred time in office with consideration to business/operational needs. UWGC has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

Purpose of Position:
The Associate Director, Workplace Campaign is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and strengthening relationships with identified organizations and current employee-donors in an organized effort to increase corporate, employee and in-kind revenue. Overseeing a significant portfolio of companies, the Associate Director designs, plans, executes and monitors all aspects of the annual campaign for a focused portfolio of companies. Manages workplace campaign and volunteer engagement efforts and organizational fundraising activities. Maintains a high level of public awareness about the importance of donations to United Way’s programs and services. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Essential Job Functions/Key Accountabilities:
 
  • Campaigns and Fundraising
  • Manages workplace campaigns, individual solicitations, volunteer and other fundraising activities to maintain a high level of public awareness of the importance of United Way’s programs and services.
  • Provides direction and support with campaign committees; offers motivational ideas and assists with goal setting and identifying and assigning tasks.
  • Evaluates and analyzes accounts to determine strengths and weaknesses to account and campaign strategies in order to develop work plans for addressing.
  • Research to identify new funding sources and develops and executes strategies for securing new accounts.
  • Manages campaigns-reporting mechanism; reports progress and accomplishments in order to modify strategies to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Works with staff and volunteers to set goals for developing and engaging accounts, setting revenue goals and implementing fundraising strategies.
  • Maintains accurate records and databases to track and analyze accounts, campaigns and fundraising efforts to measure success and develop strategies for future improvements.
  • Presentations to groups of 5 to 500 to deliver the United Way impact message and inspire gifts.
  • Encourages adoption of UW electronic giving platform and facilitates the implementation, development and management within the corporate campaign
 
  • Relationship Management
  • Manages a list of current and prospective leading corporate and individual donors in order to maintain relationships and build strategies for increasing giving.
  • Provides indirect support for a large portfolio of smaller companies and organizations by designing and posting online campaign resources and tools.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders for obtaining knowledge of political, social and economic factors that impact annual campaign and fundraising capabilities.
  • Leverages relationships and conducts research in order to identify prospects and generate new leads.
  • Represents and is often the public face of United Way with the corporate community.
 
  • Volunteer Management
  • Assists volunteer campaign chair at companies in planning and executing employee workplace campaigns.
  • Participates in the identification, recruitment, orientation, training and mentoring of campaign volunteers.
  • Provides staff support to loaned executives and administrative associates.
  • Manages volunteer engagement activities; supports and provides a positive experience for volunteers to assist in achieving campaign revenue goals.

Qualifications:
  • Required Education and Experience:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • 5 years of development, marketing, sales, fundraising including prospect solicitation and account management or the equivalent experience is required.
 
Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)
  • Knowledge of the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio philanthropic community is an asset.
  • Demonstrated and insightful “moves management” experience

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment which includes but not limited to the following: 
  • Local travel/occasional overnight travel
  • Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.
  • Occasionally required to stand’ walk; sit; use hands to fingers; hand or feel objects; tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Employees may need to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
