Job Description

This position is for University Apartments which includes 1855 Place, University Village and Spartan Village Apartments.

As a Student Facilities Building Worker, you will complete a variety of tasks, including but not limited to; custodial work (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and emptying trash), painting, moving furniture, event set up, and general maintenance. In this role you will make sure the apartments and surrounding buildings are looking and functioning their best.

Starting Pay: $13/hour

You will be expected to work day & night time shifts as well as weekday & weekend shifts. Applicants who can work Summer (May – August) 2022 will be given preference.

You will learn skills such as time management, hands on facilities & maintenance experience and minor maintenance skills, managing multiple competing tasks, interpersonal communication, and working independently and as a part of a diverse team. You will also gain a deep understanding of how an large residential operation is maintained while demonstrating outstanding customer service.

Required Qualifications

•Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)

•Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service

•Able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision

•Positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population

•Possess a valid State Issued Drivers License and be able to meet and maintain the University’s driving standards
