Data Analyst
Job Summary
The Tolemi team is looking for creative, data-minded team members to help our local government customers unlock the power of their data. You will play a pivotal role in helping cities to transform into data-driven organizations by working closely with our Customer Success & Engineering teams to streamline implementations, grow our database of municipal property information, and adapt our data model to new use cases. What’s my impact?
- Work alongside Data Solution Engineers throughout implementations and routine maintenance of cities
- Analyze, standardize and map municipal raw data using SQL (PostgreSQL)
- Maintain ELT pipelines, sleuth root causes of failing flows, and work alongside the Data and Engineering teams to resolve them
- Lead, perform and manage cross-city internal data migration efforts
- Identify recurring patterns, recommend best practices and upgrade legacy integrations to the current standard
- Own documentation for data integration best practices
- Drive continuous improvement of our processes and internal tools
What do I need to know?
Technical skills
- basic SQL knowledge (joins, aggregation, indexes, basic functions); experience working with relational databases
- ability to automate basic scripts for data automation and retrieval using in-house configurable templates
- general understanding of APIs, command line tools, networks, FTP servers
extra credit for:
- creativity in using existing tools for collecting, validating data (google spreadsheets, Katalon and Selenium for browser automation, bash)
- experience with GIS (shapefiles, ESRI ArcGIS, PostGIS, QGIS)
- experience configuring data driven software (Tableau, PowerBI, Salesforce)
- experience with PowerShell, Java/Groovy, Elixir
Communication and Project Management skills
- clear communication with internal project stakeholders
- managing deadlines, leading discussions with internal stakeholders, prioritizing multiple projects
extra credit for:
- experience working with municipalities (fire, code enforcement, planning, gis)

- using advanced data transformation techniques (deep expertise in the powerful PostgreSQL ecosystem - writing and optimizing complex queries - using CTEs, subqueries, json flattening, window functions, indexes, joins, aggregation etc.)
