Strength and Conditioning - Summer 2022 Student Coaching Internship

Marian University (Indianapolis) Strength and Conditioning is now accepting applications for 2 Volunteer Student Coaching Interns for the Summer 2022 Semester. The internship will begin May 9, 2022 and will end July 31, 2022. These are UNPAID positions designed for those who wish gain valuable experience and enter the field of coaching upon graduation. Through this internship opportunity, those involved will gain experience specific to organizing and implementing a strength and conditioning program in the collegiate setting. Successful Volunteer Student Coaches will assist the strength and conditioning staff with a variety of program needs up to and including:

  • Support of daily weight room operations
  • Organize, coach, and eventually lead daily training sessions
  • Set-up and tear-down of daily training sessions
  • Recording and organizing data collection efforts
  •  Weight Room/Equipment cleaning and maintenance
  • Other Duties Assigned by Strength and Conditioning Staff

Successful candidates for this internship will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, punctuality, and a desire to both learn and teach. In return, Student Coaches will gain a hands-on, in-depth experience coaching in the collegiate setting. Successful candidates will have an active hand in developing Marian University’s many championship level programs and will operate under the mentorship of a coach who has worked in multiple NCAA Division I programs. Student Coaches can expect to learn principles in program design and application, strategies for communicating effectively with athletes and coaches, and earn the potential for future recommendations for career opportunities. Student Coaches may be assigned relevant readings or assignments to be completed and turned into the strength and conditioning staff. College credit can also be received if applicable.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  2. In need of completing an internship for college credit
  3. In possession of, or desire to pursue the completion of:
  •  First AID/CPR/AED Certification
  •  CSCS Certification
  •  SCCC Certification

Again, these positions are UNPAID and no monetary compensation or benefits can be provided. However, current Marian University students seeking to live on-campus through the summer semester may be eligible for reduced housing costs for the SUMMER SEMESTER ONLY.
