Summer 2022 CubeSat Design, Build, and Test Research Internships

The Air Force Institute of Technology is offering undergraduate internships at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to advance the process of designing, building, and testing CubeSats. You will have the opportunity to participate in research directly supporting either the mechanical engineering team or the satellite flight software design team. You will interact with researchers across all disciplines to advance development of the Center for Space Research and Assurance's (CSRA's) spaceflight experiments.

This internship will be divided into two teams:

  • The mechanical engineering team will examine satellite componentry design, fabrication, and test processes will utilize primarily SolidWorks CAD software, and AFIT laboratory facilities. You will become familiar with spacecraft design concepts and practices through their support of on-going development projects at CSRA.
  • The satellite flight software development team will design, test, and implement satellite flight software and its interaction with satellite componentry. You will become familiar with spacecraft design concepts and practices through the support of on-going development projects at CSRA.

Where will I be located?
