The Employment Services Intern will be an instrumental part of the team, responsible for connecting and maintaining relationships with foreign-born individuals who are looking to enhance their livelihoods through career or educational advancement. In this role, you will encourage refugees, asylees, and other immigrant members of the RI community to develop self-advocacy skills and empower their autonomy to make decisions that will enable them to successfully achieve their self-sufficiency goals and make tangible progress toward socio-economic independence.

Essential Responsibilities
·  Maintain regular communication with existing clients in order to report progress towards their self-identified goals
·  Develop and execute projects designed in collaboration with department staff
·  Research, identify, and share available higher education, skills/ certification trainings, and job opportunities with clients
·  Work with large amounts of data; prepare and analyze timely reports for departmental and agency-wide programs
·  Assist with the maintenance of federally funded grant programming
·  Develop timelines for events; provide coordination and project management to ensure events’ success
·  Assist staff in the collection, entry, and maintenance of miscellaneous client data

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·  Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative relations with clients
·  Interest in serving people to achieve personal employment/ education goals and provide client-centered support
·  Ability to work as an effective team member
·  Excellent organizational skills and ability to keep accurate and clear documentation

Qualifications
·  Currently enrolled in an academic program at a college or university in a relevant course of study
·  Must be at least 18 years old
·  Enthusiasm for working in a linguistically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse environment
·  High level of cultural competency and emotional intelligence
·  Knowledge or familiarity with more than one language (preferred)
·  International students are encouraged to apply; CPT/ OPT eligible 

Training: On-site and/or online training and an agency orientation will be provided.
