Apparel Design Lab Internship

Selected interns will have the opportunity to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment as they complete an assignment focused on growing and developing one of HBI's leading apparel brands. This is a paid internship that will start in June 2022 and last for approximately 10 weeks.
The successful intern candidate will be provided with the opportunity to be involved in numerous aspects of the Apparel Industry including Creative Product Design, Technical Design, Product Development/Merchandising, Graphic Development, and Marketing. Intern will also be exposed to related areas such as: Quality Control, Inventory, Buying, Catalog Development, Concept Shop and Visual Merchandising.
Responsibilities: 
Interns will gain experience in the key aspects of Product Development through the lens of a to-be-determined project:
  • Creative Design: work on Trend, identify New Product and Line Extension Opportunities, develop Consumer Profiles, initiate Concept Sketches & BOM, communicate Aesthetic Fit, compile Competitive Market Analysis, work through Product Coloration
  • Technical Design: generate Garment Specification, learn Color Commenting techniques, understand execution of Technical Fit
  • Product Development: deliver Product Frameworks, take part in Catalog Development & Proofing, gather Competitive Costing information, track Sample Receipt / Evaluation / Logging, help maintain and organize all Samples
  • Graphic development: help determine Graphic Direction & Selection on assigned projects
  • Marketing: help identify opportunities for different types of Marketing and Digital Assets
  • Special projects where assigned; be a general aide to the product teams
Interns will work with cross-functional teams to analyze real business issues and will present findings and strategic recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.
Qualifications: 
  • Must be a current student in an Apparel Design and/or Merchandising program.
  • The successful intern candidate will be a program with emphasis on Apparel Design and/or Merchandising program.
  • Demonstrated a high potential for rapid advancement while possessing a high level of energy, self-confidence, and positive interaction skills.
  • Team oriented and ability to work across cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, be flexible and work on tight timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • This individual must possess a sense of ownership for their work and the business overall.
  • This individual must also be a self-starter and demonstrate good judgment and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
