STEM Curriculum Design Intern

What You’ll Do: 
 
We are seeking an intern to join the Product Digital Instruction Team.  
You will be working with a team of curriculum, product, editorial and video production experts who focus on international STEM products and resources. You will work with the STEM Connect team to support both the US and global products, aimed at students in grades K-8. You will be working to support the international team with projects that range from STEM curriculum for early childhood to science curriculum for upper elementary and middle grades.  
You will:  
  • Assist with various STEM projects that range from US K-12 to International.  
  • For the US K-12 aspects of the project, you will analyze current video, PDF and other assets in the US STEM Connect project that are eligible for updates. You will create a system of prioritization and implement updates as applicable. 
  • You will learn aspects of both curriculum and product development and will gain knowledge of front- and back-end systems.  
  • For International projects, you will assist with various aspects of curriculum development, including script development for videos, tracking of images and illustrations and review of digital and print resources. 
 
What you can expect from us:  
You will gain knowledge of both product and curriculum development, will learn systems used for editorial and content creation, and will be given an opportunity to work within both digital and print platforms. The intern will learn more about the global operations of DE, with a specific focus on STEM.] 
 
If the candidate selected is a current student, the offer will be to participate in the Company's Summer Internship Program. The paid internship program is 8 weeks from June 21, 2022 – August 19, 2022. Students must be able to commit to 20 hours/week employment during the internship. 
This is a PAID internship.   
 

Who You Are:   
  1. Professional Experience:  
  • Recommended but not required: experience with K-12 and/or early childhood classroom instruction; work in STEM fields; experience with video production and/or simple story animation 
  1. Knowledge & Skills:  
  • Interest and/or background in STEM fields and K-12 education is preferred.  
  • Proactive communication is preferred; intern should seek out opportunities to clarify and deepen understanding, and also should provide regular updates to supervisors in terms of progress/setbacks etc. 
  • Attention to detail. STEM Connect is a partner-facing, fee-for-subscription-based resource. It is important to make sure that teachers and students encounter an error-free product. 
  1. Education: (Associates, Bachelors, Master) or equivalent combination of education and work experience  

  1. Technical Skills:   
  • Ability to work in various digital platforms, including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.  
  • Recommended but not required: experience with project management software including Asana. 
  • We use a variety of online digital publishing tools and will provide training, but the intern should be comfortable using technology and referencing online training materials.  
  1. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills 
  2. Self-Motivation and Self-Starter: Driven self-starter with the ability to do what needs to be done without being micromanaged; ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks, proactively manage numerous projects, and prioritize competing timelines; demonstrate a problem solving/ solution-oriented approach 
  3. Learning Orientation: Always willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations  
  4. Focus on Diversity: Have a demonstrated ability to understand, accept and engage with people of diverse backgrounds. 
  5. Sense of Humor: Because we all need to laugh sometimes  
  6. Legal right to work in the United States
