UX-Product Design Intern

What You’ll Do: 
We are seeking an intern to join our Product Design Team: 
Discovery Education is seeking a Product/UX Design Intern to join our Product Design team to create intuitive, elegant, and functional experiences for our award-winning suite of blended learning K-12 products. A keen aesthetic sensibility and attention to detail, combined with a user-centered methodology, is key for success. The ideal candidate has a desire to develop their skills in design, prototyping and working directly with researchers, product managers, and developers to collaboratively ensure the product’s success. They should care deeply about delivering engaging, effective, and easy-to-navigate educational experiences for students, educators, and administrators. 
In this role, you will learn how we drive innovation through design by partnering with our individual product teams through every step of the product development process — from concepting new features and defining overall strategy, to conducting end-user testing to inform iterative product improvements.

If the candidate selected is a current student, the offer will be to participate in the Company's Summer Internship Program. The paid internship program is 8 weeks from June 21, 2022 – August 19, 2022. Students must be able to commit to 30 hours/week employment during the internship. 
This is a PAID internship.  

Who You Are:   
  1. Professional Experience: Some experience developing products in a team/agile setting; for school or work projects. Core understanding of design and research processes and the motivation to learn and grow. 
  2. Knowledge & Skills: Solve problems for user and business goals and explore innovative design approaches. 
  3. Education: (Associates, Bachelors, Master) or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 
  4. Technical Skills: Ability to create wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and interactive prototypes with design tools - we use Figma. 
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills. 
  6. Self-Motivation and Self-Starter: Driven self-starter with the ability to do what needs to be done without being micromanaged; ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks, proactively manage numerous projects, and prioritize competing timelines; demonstrate a problem solving/ solution-oriented approach. 
  7. Learning Orientation: Always willing to learn something new, not rigid in beliefs or expectations. 
  8. Focus on Diversity: Have a demonstrated ability to understand, accept and engage with people of diverse backgrounds. 
  9. Sense of Humor: Because we all need to laugh sometimes. 
  10. Legal right to work in the United States
