Field Research Opportunity

Position Title: Survey Research Assistant
Organization: Center for Health Policy, Fairbanks School of Public Health
Hourly Wage: $11.00/hr (undergraduate), $13.00/hr (graduate)
Time Commitment: 20-30/per week, flexible. Evenings and weekends negotiable
Duration: May 1, 2022 through October 2022
Travel Required: Ability to travel to health care offices within Indianapolis.


Job Description
Recruiting up to 4 undergraduate / graduate students to support a research study on the social determinants of health. The study measures the prevalence of issues like food insecurity and housing issues at primary care setting and an emergency department in Indianapolis.

Survey research assistants will recruit patients at health care offices / the emergency department to participate in a survey about social determinants. Survey research assistants will use information systems to identify patients and document participation, explain the study to potential participants, and complete study documentation. The study is recruiting patients that speak English or Spanish.

Work hours will be flexible to account for classes, but this position requires the ability to work multiple consecutive hours (e.g. 4-6) during normal business hours. Data collection activities at the emergency department can include weekend and evening hours as well (negotiable).

Students must be able to travel to offices in the Indianapolis area. A MVR (Motor Vehicle Record check) and auto insurance are required.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in public health, the health care environment, or wishing to put language skills to use. Survey research assistants will have the support and guidance of the research team and staff at the Center for Health Policy.
