As a Structural Engineer at Walker Consultants, you will design some of the largest structures in the world, including transit, resort, casino and airport parking structures. Parking structures are similar to both bridges and buildings and require skill in both structural design and materials science due to aesthetics, long spans, thermal movements, and durability challenges. These structures endure the elements with every framing member exposed to public view. Not only will you design the structure’s framing system, but you will participate in its layout and aesthetic appearance, interacting directly with clients and other subconsultants.


Responsibilities
  • Perform structural modeling, analysis, and design for gravity and lateral design of structures including prestressed and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, and steel members.
  • Produce construction documents for new design and restoration projects.
  • Perform site visits to observe construction.
  • Assist with restoration projects for existing structures.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education Requirements:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University, Master's degree preferred.
Other Requirements:
  • Professional license in structural or civil engineering, or ability to obtain licensure within 3 years is required.
  • Solid knowledge of structural engineering.
  • Strong computer, writing, communication, and team skills are necessary.
Coursework:
  • Prestressed Concrete Structures
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in the design and construction of pre-cast, post-tensioned, and reinforced concrete structures is desired.
