CHW Resiliency Training Coordinator/Grant Funded - Hybrid Schedule (Community Health Education Center - CHEC)

The Community Health Education Center (CHEC) is a national leader in education and training related to the essential services of Community Health Workers (CHWs) and CHW Supervision. We provide high quality, comprehensive and affordable training, and professional development to community health workers (CHWs) and their supervisors. CHEC's mission is to build the capacity of CHWs to deliver high quality health education, advocacy, and referral services to community members. CHEC trainings prepare CHWs in the core competencies required for certification, and strategies to provide effective community outreach and health education in community settings.

The CHW Resiliency Training Coordinator (Coordinator) reports to the Program Manager of the Community Health Education Center as a supportive agent in advancing health equity, responding to emerging training needs in the field and/or amplifying issues and opportunities related to the social determinants of health to create diverse learning opportunities that advance the field of CHW work within an anti-racism framework.

The person in this role must be able to work in an effective manner with the team regarding all aspects of program operations, training design and delivery through program staff collaboration and community outreach. The Training Coordinator must be committed to support activities that lend to building a culture of performance, understanding and professional advancement that is focused on operational excellence.

Duties
  • Works with the Resiliency Trainers, CHEC Program Manager and CHEC Director to provide essential support duties that empower the team to deliver
  • CHEC's menu of training programs and related program activities as assigned.
  • Supports the ongoing assessments that define training needs of CHWS through the effective collection of attendance, surveys and other information for active synthesis of results that can be reviewed by program staff.
  • Works constructively on facilitation needs with a robust pool of qualified trainers including, but not limited to: BPHC staff trainers, community-based training consultants, diverse field expert consultants and CHW cofacilitators.
  • Supports CHEC's training plans and development through preparatory activities for team members to be ready for meetings, outreach activities and special projects.
  • Supports CHEC's promotional activities through direct activities as assigned or approved to contribute to building an effective, interactive, and inclusive web and social media presence within BPHC guidelines.
  • Supports networking activities led by the Outreach Network Coordinator and other staff or interns as assigned to help build an environment of collective advancement for CHWs.
  • Support trainers in accessing virtual learning platforms.
  • Supports CHEC's focus on building multilingual capacity through translation support and interpretation as needed based on linguistic capacity.
  • Completes tasks in a timely manner to support the team in adherence to outcomes and goals in our training and outreach plans.
  • Assists with other CHEC functions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and 6 years of significant, direct professional experience in public health education and/or outreach OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 2-years of experience in the above areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing, monitoring and evaluating training programs and corresponding curricula.
  • Contributes to the ongoing assessment of training needs of community health workers with a focus on MA CHW standards of practice and health equity in training programs through the effective collection of surveys and active participation in other evaluation tools or processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with adult learning principles and participatory training techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating training programs for diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordination and delivery of curricula in online and in-person class settings.
  • Solid knowledge of training evaluation and quality improvement techniques highly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with the work of community health workers and their training needs in Massachusetts desirable.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, and cultures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively and work collaboratively with others.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with the MS Office Suite, including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing programs including, but not limited to Quark Express, Adobe, PageMaker/InDesign and/or Canva.
  • Knowledge of podcast or basic video production is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally to coordinate and deliver training and outreach programs is required.
  • Supports CHEC's focus on building multilingual capacity through translation support and interpretation as needed based on linguistic capacity.
  • Familiarity of the Boston Public Health Commission's structure and related programs highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated access to community networks and knowledge of community neighborhood profiles in Boston highly desirable.

City of Boston Residency Required, A Criminal Offenders Records Information request must be completed for this position. Pay Range
$52,000 - $57,000/Annually

Shift
Monday-Friday 9:00 AM -- 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends for on-site and off-site operations required. Hybrid Schedule is subject to BPHC's temporary teleworking policy
