Summer Internship: Exchange Student Group Leader
EF High School Exchange Year is seeking energetic, responsible, positive individuals to work with international high school exchange students during our Farewell & Welcome Days programming this summer. Farewell Days provide exchange students who have just completed their year abroad the opportunity to process their experience and prepare for reverse culture shock upon their return home. Welcome Days provide exchange students the opportunity to acclimate to US life before their year with their Host Families begin.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with student airport arrivals and departures
- Guiding students through classroom & reflection activities centered around culture shock, homesickness, & bonding with host families
- Supervising the group field trip to Manhattan
- Being a sounding board to students
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has experience working with teenagers
- Is confident in their ability to lead small group activities
- Has a passion for cultural exchange, travel, and education
- Is enthusiastic, patient, creative, flexible, and has a great sense of humor
- Has exceptional problem-solving skills
- Is 21+ and would be comfortable driving a 15-passenger van if needed
Details:
Farewell & Welcome Days take place on EF Academy’s high school campus in Thornwood, NY. The compensation for this role is $15/hr. Meals and accommodations in dorm-style housing are included.
Group Leaders are required to complete two online training modules to familiarize themselves with EF High School Exchange Year. Each Group Leader will be responsible for guiding approximately 20 students through the Farewell & Welcome Days programming.
This summer will begin with an in-person all-staff training from May 31-June 3rd, with four Farewell Days sessions immediately following. Programming resumes in July with 5 Welcome Days sessions:

Session 1: June 4th - 7th
Session 2: June 11th - 14th
Session 3: June 18th - 21st
Session 4: June 25th – 28th
Welcome Days
Session 1: July 13th - 16th
Session 2: July 20th - 23rd
Session 3: July 27th - 30th
Session 4: August 3rd - 6th
Session 5: August 10th - 13th
Session 6: August 17th - 20th
