Sr. Research Engineer, Front End Developer

SCOPE OF THIS POSITION
• Join an agile team delivering software solutions to accelerate materials innovation
• Work with UX/UI team members to implement desired functionalities
• Partner with other software teams to share knowledge, resources and deliver holistic solution • Mentor and train junior colleagues on complex frontend challenges
 
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Mid-level to senior frontend developer. Undergraduate degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
• Foundational knowledge of software algorithms, data structures and design principles with a proven ability to design and build code
• Experience with basic software development tools such as git and methodologies such as agile development
• 5+ years of software development experience using modern web development languages, tools and frameworks (Vanilla JavaScript, Angular, React, VueJS, HTML, CSS, etc.)
• Ability to work with a design team and translate wire-frames into a scalable front-end architecture
• Familiar with UI Test Automation frameworks, and MVC frameworks
• Familiar with front-end software design patterns (e.g., asynchronicity, data binding, modules, promises)
• Experience interacting with web services/micro services
 
DESIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Experience with cloud computing
• Data-intensive applications
• Advanced scientific visualization (e.g. d3.js)
• Interest or degree in Math and Science
• Familiarity with research and industrial processes
 
DESIRED SOFT SKILLS
• Must be self-motivated to deliver meaningful results as required by project
• The ability to deal with uncertainty
• Strong analytical skills
• Collaborative and able to openly engage with colleagues from diverse cultures, disciplines and backgrounds to achieve project goals
• The ability to communicate effectively by phone and video with team members in multiple locations
