Denver Zoo provides a robust internship program in Horticulture. Interns will receive hands-on training in horticulture practice. Areas of training may include plant identification and care, soil health, garden design and maintenance, small equipment, plant propagation, irrigation design and maintenance, and pest management. The Horticulture Intern supports Denver Zoo’s mission and goals by assisting members of the Horticulture department and engaging in a robust internship program in Horticulture. Denver Zoo Horticulture designs and maintains landscapes throughout the Denver Zoo’s 80-acre campus to include exhibits, browse and produce gardens, perennial and annual gardens, a tropical conservatory, and greenhouse production. Denver Zoo provides a robust internship program in Horticulture. Interns will receive hands-on training in horticulture practice in a zoological setting. Depending on the intern assignment, areas of training may include plant identification and care, soil health, garden design and maintenance, small equipment, plant propagation, irrigation design and maintenance, and pest management. Interns will be assigned a mentor through the duration of the internship and receive coaching and feedback. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in guest engagement through guest interactions. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, presentations and projects. Interns will be introduced to Denver Zoo culture and procedures and learn safety procedures and guidelines.
