Licensed Mental Health Professional

Salary Range: $46,203.00 - $78,218.00 Annually

The primary purpose of these positions are to provide mental health services for juveniles assigned to a Youth Development Center. These services include mental status examinations, diagnostic evaluations and behavioral assessments, behavioral programming, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention and direct counseling services at an advanced level. Will provide training as needed. 

The positions will be responsible for the following:

New Admission Screening and Evaluation
Perform an evidence-based mental health screening for assigned new admissions. Document completion of the screening in NC-JOIN. Complete a clinical interview and mental status exam. Complete a mental health evaluation report. Document results in the Mental Health Practice Management System.

Mental Health Treatment
Complete a mental health treatment plan for each assigned new admission. Provide psychotherapeutic treatment as indicated. Document the plan in the Mental Health Practice Management System within 30 days of admission. Document treatment progress within 24 hours of each intervention session. Crisis assessment and intervention.

Criminogenic Needs Identification and Targeting
Identify prominent dynamic factors that affect the youth’s risk for recidivism within 30 days of admission. Document numerical data in NC-JOIN within 3 days of each assessment. Provide individual and group treatment targeting criminogenic needs to assigned youth. Assess for measurable improvement upon quarterly review of criminogenic needs.

Training/Continuing Education
Provide training to staff as needed.
Attend continuing education seminars/workshops commensurate with scope and requirements of professional practice. Complete required trainings in the DPS Learning Management System.

**On-call Rotation is required.

  • Health Services Provider – Psychologist (HSP-P)
  • Licensed Psychologist (LP)
  • Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associates (LCSW-A)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associates (LMFT-A)
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
  • Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associates (LCMHC-A)
  • Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) – must also have one other listed license                                                                                                           
  • **As a result of changes through the licensing board, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC/LPC-A) are now referred to as Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC/LCMHC-A).

Required Education and Experience:
Master's degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling or human services related field from an appropriately accredited educational institution.
