Data Engineer
SUMMARY:
The Data Engineer reports to the Sales & Marketing analytics team supporting the Miami Dolphins, Miami Open, Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix and other Hard Rock Stadium hosted events. The Data Engineer will be responsible for expanding, optimizing, and supporting our data environment and ETL pipeline architecture spanning the data lifecycle from new data source ingestion to modeled data ready for end-user consumption. A key aspect of the role will be centered around growing our current data warehouse solution through enhancement of our dimensional models as well as building new models to support future analytics requirements. The Data Engineer will work closely with our Data Architect and Analytics team to support our BI developers, CRM coordinators, financial analysts, and data analysts on these data initiatives. The Data Engineer must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify, design, document, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Create and maintain ETL Pipelines from various internal and external data sources to our data lake, data warehouse and raw analytics environments using SQL and Azure big data technologies.
- Meet with business stakeholders and source system SMEs to understand desired reporting enhancements and how they are stored in their source systems and develop the ETL processes to build enhancements into new and existing dimensional models.
- Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building moving our business towards more data driven decisions.
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Marketing, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Audit end-user data requests and ETL jobs in our analytics environments and run data quality and validation tests between transformed data and source systems.
- Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, query authoring (SQL) as well as working with a variety of databases.
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets across a variety of source systems.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets, API data extraction and web scraping applications (Nice to have).
- Experience manipulating, processing, and extracting value from disconnected datasets.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
- 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineering or applicable data-centric role. Should also have experience using the following software/tools:
- Experience with relational OLTP and OLAP SQL systems: including Azure SQL Database (Ideal), SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle DB etc.
- Experience with Data warehousing systems: Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Warehouse, Snowflake, Amazon RedShift etc.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azure Data Factory (Ideal), SSIS, Airflow, etc.
- Experience with Azure Analytics Stack, a plus
- Experience with CRM Systems: Dynamics 365, Salesforce etc., a plus
- Experience with big data tools: DataBricks (ideal), Spark, Hadoop, etc., a plus
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Scala, etc., a plus
