Position
Purpose: Responsible for planning, configuration management,
implementation, and maintenance of Local and Wide area Networks (LANs/WANs),
their core components, servers, interconnections, and endpoint systems.
Essential
Job Functions:
- Responsible for the design and implementation
of network configurations, network architecture, including hardware and
software technology, and integration of technologies
- Maintains configuration
management for all production networks and systems with limited or no
downtime
- Troubleshoots and resolves
difficult network and system related issues
- Oversees systems and network
hardware/software/firmware upgrades
- Identifies, evaluates and
recommends Network related tools and emerging technologies, and
researching for continuous improvement paths
- Provides capacity planning for
internal and external hardware network connections
- Provides firewall, proxy and VPN
installation, configuration, sustainment, problem resolution, upgrade,
replacement and removal support following approved guidelines
- Manage user accounts, groups,
profiles, and rights
- Provides both remote and on-site
hardware and software support
- Implements modifications and
enhancements required to improve the performance, integrity and
maintenance of some or all networking components
- Configures and maintains
infrastructure LAN/WAN routers and switches as necessary
- Monitors system performance and
provides security measures, troubleshooting and maintenance as needed
- Tests and evaluates hardware and
software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with
existing systems and make purchase recommendations
- Maintains technical
documentation of all operating procedures
- Provides technical assistance to
remote facilities through applied methodologies
- Oversees projects that support
HOV’s core Networking/LAN and WAN infrastructures
- Develops network security
standards, processes and tools
- Demonstrates high levels of
safety awareness and notifies supervisor of potential hazards
- Follows the security and privacy
policies, standards and guidelines in order to protect the informational
assets of both the company and their customers
Marginal
Job Functions:
- Performs other duties as
business requires
- Maintains appropriate
housekeeping on work area
- May work with vendors regarding
vendor supplied products
- May assist with writing
documentation for the processes and procedures
- May research enhancements to
existing systems and recommend changes
- May support company
communications system, virtual machines, remote access to systems
- May work with senior IT
Management on specific projects or activities
Qualifications
for Position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer
science or related field
- 5+ years as a Network Engineer
- MS Active Directory Management
- 5+ years experience with modern
TCP/IP Networks
- Extensive knowledge and
experience of Cisco Routers and switching equipment
- Network certification or
equivalent training/experience such as CCNA
- Must have superior Network
routing protocol troubleshooting skills
- Thorough understanding of
Windows NT/2000/2003/XP
- Understanding of SQL Server,
Novell Groupwise, BGP, DNS, FTP, LDAP, RDP, CiscoWorks, IIS, Digital
Certificates (Verisign) and VPN environments
- Experience with security issues
and access control mechanisms
- Experience with Network
monitoring and other network administrative tools
- Prepare accurate and
grammatically correct written reports
- Perform a wide variety of duties
and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of
time-sensitive deadlines
- Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity
and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks
- Strong written and verbal
communication skills
