Carl Connection: Research Assistant: Institute for Cancer Outcomes and Survivorship

Responsibilities:
  • To manage an assigned set of multiple palliative and end-of-life research protocols to assure efficiency and regulatory compliance of the protocol. To meet, recruit, and consent patients.
  • To complete study activities for patients, including medical record abstraction, helping patients complete surveys, patient interviews, and psychosocial interventions.
  • To monitor study compliance and maintain a system for effective data flow associated with research protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field (Bachelor's degree can substitute for work experience)

Compensation:
  • Hourly Salary Range: $16.14 - $25.17 (full time position, M-F 8am-5pm)

There is an opportunity to take classes at UAB while working (including medical school prerequisites and getting a master's degree). Many of our CRAs have obtained MPH degrees while working at ICOS, and are now moving on to medical school or other graduate programs.
