Mental Health Therapist
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION : The Psychotherapist provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and counseling and support services for a mixed caseload including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health issues, communication challenges, or family conflict.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct a series of sessions with a client - normally lasting 1hr to assess need, build trust and explore issues
- Encourage the client to talk about and explore their feelings, attitudes and behaviors
- Run group sessions with people undergoing therapy in a clinical setting
- Help clients develop strategies for coping with issues and for making positive changes to the way they think and behave
- Keep up with collateral communications, clinical documentation of therapy sessions and outcomes
- Undergo clinical supervision, with a qualified Clinical supervisor (where applicable for licensure) in order to reflect on sessions, and to raise personal issues and professional concerns arising from work
- Keep abreast with developments in theory and research
- Network within the health professional community and other potential business areas to maintain continuity of work and client base
- Work towards employment goals as set by Simms Health
- Attendance to weekly group supervision
- Participation in bi-weekly site supervision
Qualifications:
· WV eligible license – must be up to date or acquired before start date.
· LICSW, LPC preferred, but will consider LCSW, LGSW, and Provisionally Licensed Counselors.
· Experience with making treatment plans.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Strong work ethic.
· Practical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
