ABOUT CLEAN OCEAN ACCESS - Clean Ocean Access is an environmental non-profit organization located on Aquidneck Island in Middletown, RI. Our mission is to inspire and educate the community to take action through environmentally responsible behaviors. Each day we work tirelessly for a clean, healthy ocean that is accessible to all. INTERNSHIP SUMMARY – Communications Interns support the Director of Marketing & Events with various communication-based tasks. The intern will gain hands-on experience in writing press releases, social media marketing, website management and work with local media outlets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
· Create and distribute content such as blogs, articles, media alerts and press releases.
· Ensure brand messaging is consistent.
· Write social media captions that speak to COA’s target audience.
· Helping plan and run fundraising events.
· Hang and distribute flyers for programing and fundraising events as needed.
· Help at outreach events by manning the COA booth/table and engaging with the public.
· Maintain the organization’s media archives.
· Perform website edits as needed.
**Excellent writing and communications skills are required.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS –
→ Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week
→ Schedule: Weekdays (2-3 days dependent on schedule) and some weekday evenings and weekends for events.
→ Compensation: Course credit or paid (plus work-related mileage reimbursement)
→ Location: Office located at 985 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, Rhode Island. Field work at various locations around Newport County.
