Job Description: ka+ Annual Summer Design Internship (2022)
This opportunity is for a current architecture student eager to bolster their design education with a summer design internship at our Jacksonville office.  The internship will orbit around a kasper led micro-thesis, which will engage the candidate in a design-research project broken into two phases. Phase 1 will involve research, analysis, and documentation of a topic specific to architectural practice (i.e. education, an ideal office space, the river landscape, etc.). Phase 2 will leverage the research phase to accomplish a hypothetical, Jacksonville-based design project.
The ideal candidate will be a tenacious, talented designer who is in the process of building a strong design portfolio. They will be required to to conceptually solve problems, think critically, be graphically and visually inclined, able to articulate design ideas, be self-motivated, able to defend design decisions when necessary, and be adept at making architecture that is both systemically rigorous and emotively beautiful.
This position will work directly with the Lead Designer on assignments both collaboratively and individually. In a typical day one could participate in design critiques and charettes, create 3D models, 2D drawings and diagrams, virtual reality, and/or present designs to the office.
Resume and design portfolio required.
