Work-Study Program Graduate Assistant, UCR, Career Center
Position Overview
The Work-study Program Graduate Assistant (GA) in partnership with the Career Center and assigned supervisor mentors will actively support in facilitating the Work-study program* which supports over 6,000 work-study eligible students.
The GA assists in handling and resolving requests from on and off-campus employers as well as students in regards but not limited to, work-study and career center services, supporting job approvals through the Handshake job platform, facilitating work-study partner outreach, and enhancing work-study resources and communications. This is a 5-month position (approximately February 2022 to June 2022). This position may be extended into summer based on staffing needs.
In collaboration with the Career Center and the Financial Aid office, this role will:
- Support student employment and the work-study program, on-campus departments and off-campus employers, such as school districts and nonprofit organizations as well as local employers
- Support to solve and ensure employers are meeting policies and procedures for federal work-study program
- Assist in developing student and employer resources, updating website and co-facilitating trainings and orientations
- Work with Career Center team in supporting future and existing campus partner outreach needs
- Support with Handshake job approvals and problem solve with on or off campus departments on posting needs
Qualifications
- Current UCR graduate student in good academic standing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail oriented.
- Demonstrate self-initiative and an innovative approach to their work.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

*The Work-study program is funded by the federal government. It offers financial support to students with demonstrated financial need. Eligible students may use their award by obtaining a Work-Study job at the University or with an approved off-campus employer. In addition, UCR works with on and off campus employers by paying a portion of a qualified student's wages with the employer paying the remaining balance.
