Community Outreach Coordinator

General Duties: To participate as part of a team that leads the execution, analysis, planning, control and evaluation of, service projects, volunteers, organizational and 3rd party event efforts; build strategic relationships within the community; conduct a variety of outreach activities; and lead outreach and community events. Assignments are expected to be carried out under limited supervision within the office or remotely, therefore only candidates with sound judgment, time management skills, and internal motivation should apply.
· Creates a diversified community development plan that is in alignment with the agency’s strategic plan.
· Participates in community event planning, and community fundraising activities to increase the organization’s community giving.
· Supports and grows community special events, service projects and third-party opportunities.
· Develops and directs a program for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new and current community donors and businesses.
· Completes timely and appropriate acknowledgements for community based donors.
· Maintains accurate records and provides regular reports on community presentations, media, community events and volunteer management data.
· Develops a plan to monetize community events wherever possible.
Community Outreach and Education
· Creates an annual outreach plan.
· Develops plan to recruit, train, and utilize volunteers.
· Attends relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils and committees.
· Schedules outreach presentations in the community and communicates with staff regarding coverage and responsibilities.
· Develops a consistent presentation outline.
· Develops community outreach materials and organizational collateral.
· Maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivates new ones.
· Assists where assigned in the coordination of organizational special events including solicitations of auction baskets/gifts and coordinates volunteers for events.
· Coordinate National Safe Place Program efforts to expand and implement new program sites.
· Plan, coordinate, and distribute promotional materials at tabling and community events.
· Manages volunteer program
Street Outreach
· Support individuals experiencing homelessness and living in the community through such activities:
o one on one contact with individuals in a street or emergency shelter setting
o advocate on behalf of the client and/or empowering client to advocate for self
collaborate with agencies in our community to provide access to our clients such as housing, employment, harm reduction services, etc…
o work with local mental health/medical health providers to help client access services
· Street Outreach Workers are dedicated to ensuring clients experiencing homelessness are advocated for in the community and have access to services needed.
· Street Outreach Workers ensure data is being collected and is accurate. Workers will maintain electronic records for reporting purposes, evaluation, and program development.
· Street Outreach Workers will continue to educated themselves on street outreach competencies and best practices for street outreach.
· Street Outreach Workers will participate in case management meetings within the agency and community. Workers will participate in coordinated entry systems.
· Street Outreach Workers will perform other duties as assigned.
· Assist with grant research and writing if needed.
· Develop and utilize volunteers and volunteer programs.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· High level attention to detail and organization skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects
· Outgoing and engaging personality with confidence to interact face to face with community members
· Knowledge and experience with social media platforms and websites
· Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports on development and outreach activities, to track and assess progress and address program deficiencies as they occur.
· DHS background check and must be at least 21 years of age.
· Ability to relate in an empathetic, supportive, non-judgmental manner to runaway and homeless youth and their families
· A valid Driver’s License and driving record that meets or exceeds our insurance requirements.
· Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
· Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and perspective, respect for clients right to self-determination, individualized client care, and flexibility.
· Knowledge of community resources and services, social and environmental determinants of health, health promotion, disease prevention, and supportive services.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Weekends and evenings often required
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred with preferred 3-5 years of experience with non-profit fundraising
· Experience managing donor management systems
· Experience with UHMIS or other HMIS data management
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 50 pounds. Walking, hiking, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping for brief periods of time.
· $40,000-$42,000/year, DOE and qualifications
· Benefits after 90 days of employment include PTO, phone stipend, health and life insurance.
· This position sometimes includes working evenings, weekends and on-call.
