Operational Excellence Intern - Construction Industry

How your role fits into Boldt:

As an Operational Excellence Intern, you are a link between Operational Excellence and the technical infrastructure of Boldt’s Operations Portal (BOP). In this customer-facing role, an individual works closely with Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts and Web Developers to integrate business processes and standardized work with our online SharePoint environment. The tech savvy intern provides support and oversight on both the governance of the online portal and the interface with our end users.
Success in this role is based on customer service, communication, and execution and follow-through as well as the ability to maintain the integrity of business standards in an online, single-sourced environment. Additionally, working knowledge of the Operational Excellence model is necessary to help manage and sustain the company’s transformation to Standardized Work.

Required Skills

What you get to do:

  • Front-end development in SharePoint for the BOP
  • Setup and maintain landing / site pages, webparts, libraries, and links for Process Owners / Content Developers
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of the term store / site collections for the BOP within SharePoint
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of navigation and searching protocols including metadata, meta tags, etc.
  • Create different views and filters for end users to access appropriate level of information
  • Assist with the creation and administration of Site Governance for the BOP within SharePoint as well as interfacing with the BPM (Business Process Management) system
  • Provide support and assistance with naming conventions, policies, and permissions
  • Provide support and coaching for Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts and / or Content Developers
  • Assist with the integration with other Microsoft or Process Management applications / AI bots / updates used for Standardized Work
  • Become familiar with different types of standard documents, forms, templates, job aids, job methods, and process maps
  • Assist in the archival / cleanup of legacy documents found on the intranet and BOP to ensure information reliability and single source of truth is maintained
  • Assist in the technical development, publication and management of processes and Standardized Work
  • Work with internal Operational Excellence team on change management principles to support end users with the use of Standardized Work tools and help create an exceptional experience for them
  • Advocate the “why” and “how” of Standardized Work and best practices

Required Experience

What we expect from you:

  • Full-time student enrolled at a college or university with sophomore, junior, or senior status pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Proficiency required with Microsoft Office Suite, Apps and Online Services including Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, OneNote, and Planner.
  • Programming skills desired; not required.
  • Driven self-starter with proven record of working independently or with a team.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage individual contributions.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical problem solver; phenomenal attention to detail, quality, and standardization (when applicable) when completing assignments.
