Regional Dispatcher/Logistics Planner

The Regional Dispatcher/Logistics Planner is responsible for the coordinating and scheduling of all transportation activity in a designated geographical region. They work with UFP shipping/receiving personnel to coordinate on time, cost effective deliveries to customers. They will be responsible for coordination of trucks and drivers according to plant needs, customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations and company rules. Notifies drivers, dedicated carriers and commercial carriers of assignments; reviews and verifies accuracy of fleet driver’s logs and safety performance. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision and a certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities
• Takes care of the customer by working with UFP teammates, carrier representatives, drivers, and the customer to ensure on time delivery
• Coordinates, schedules, ensures the successful completion of all shipments for a designated region
• Will coordinate closely with transportation, plant operations, and sales to deliver the most reliable and low-cost shipping solutions
• Builds and maintains relationships with UFP drivers, Dedicated Carriers, and commercial carriers
• Works with plant shipping personnel to ensure safe and proper loading in accordance with Federal and State laws
• Achieve weekly revenue and operational goals
• Determines most effective mode of transportation and ensures proper carrier selection
• Coordinates backhaul shipments to reduce fleet and dedicated empty miles
• Assists with the negotiation of rates for transportation services
• Coordinates order routing for optimal efficiency and customer service
• Ensures internal/external paperwork meets all UFP and DOT regulations and procedures
• Ensures carriers are making and meeting scheduled delivery and pick up appointments
• Coordinates the utilization of UFP equipment and drivers
