We are a large, fast growing, multi-location Industrial Packaging Distributor in the United States and we need a Buyer to join our team at our Glenwillow, Ohio location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As the primary contact for your assigned suppliers, you will be responsible for executing the day-to-day buying activities and onboarding new products in coordination with Sourcing, Inventory Planning, Regional Purchasing Managers, and Customer Service.
- Process purchase orders to replenish stock in a timely and accurate manner to ensure a high fill rate for our customers.
- Monitor, communicate, and follow up as necessary on late orders from your suppliers. Timely communication to sales and customer service for any back orders or late deliveries affecting our customers.
- Investigate and resolve invoice and receiving issues in a timely manner.
- Work closely with suppliers and Quality Department to resolve quality issues quickly. Process return to vendor claims as necessary.
- Arrange freight for both domestic and global product shipments.
- Ensure accuracy of item information including costs, lead times, and reorder points.
- Develop and implement cost savings projects
- Assist in annual warehouse inventory counts.
Successful Candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or University in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or other related course of study.
- 5 years of experience in a buyer role within a distribution environment.
- Experience onboarding new products
- Experience with Oracle ASCP is a plus
- Advance knowledge of Excel
- Work well with a diverse group of people at all levels of organizations including Customer Service and Suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and different workflow processes
- Travel domestically occasionally to visit suppliers, provide support to warehouses, and participate in inventory counts. Travel will be < 10%.
