Intern, Risk Management

Internship with the Risk Management team is the first step in becoming a Risk Management Coordinator at Invitation Homes. This is a unique opportunity to support the insurance and risk initiatives of the organization with emphasis on claims administration. This internship offers the opportunity to work with our amazing team of risk and claims professionals who are ready to make your internship a meaningful experience.   

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Work with Claims team in support of daily claims activities including reporting of new incidents and the administration of claims 
  • Facilitate the recovery of insurance proceeds from third parties for Property losses 
  • Manage assigned claims in RMIS system 
  • Support Risk Management with multi-asset losses 
  • Assist preparing monthly reports of claims status and inventory 
  • Aid in the data collection of information required for various insurance renewals 
  • Process and systems for this internship also include insurance placement, renters’ insurance, hurricane preparedness, claims managements & management reporting

Qualifications/Requirements 
  • Currently pursuing undergraduate degree from a 4-year accredited university in Risk Management, Insurance or another related field with an expected graduation date between December 2022 and May 2023 
  • High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability; specifically, the ability to work as self-starter 
  • Desire to grow professionally and collaborate with others 
  • Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired company and project goals with prudence and sense of urgency 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). 
  • Desire to work in Dallas, Texas
