THE POSITION
Hennepin County's Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking a Concierge to support the Staff Computer Support Centers (SC)2 and Collaborative Work Centers. This position will work with the IT Enterprise Service Desk to support our customers. Those hired will perform work involving the application of technical skill to non-routine issues.
Location and hours:
This position will be located at one or more Staff Computer Support Centers or Collaborative Work Center across the county. Training will take place at the Southdale Service Center.
Southdale Service Center at 7009 York Avenue South, Edina MN.
Government Center, 300 S 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN.
Ridgedale Service Center at 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN.
 
Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
About this position type:
This is a limited duration (temporary) full-time, benefit earning position expected to last up to two years with the possibility of extension. 

Effective September 1, 2021, all new job offers are conditional based on the candidate being fully vaccinated for COVID-19. “Fully vaccinated” means 14 days after receiving the second dose in a two-dose vaccination series approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on a full or emergency-use basis, or 14 days after receiving a single-dose vaccine approved by the FDA on a full or emergency-use basis. After a conditional job offer is made, the candidate must show proof of full vaccination prior to their start date. A COVID-19 vaccination card from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a vaccination record from your doctor’s office or a personal digital vaccination record constitutes sufficient “proof.” The candidate must also attest they are vaccinated by completing a form on the first day of employment. In this position, you will:
  • Greet the customers and direct them to the analyst who will assist them with their service; assist the customer with a select number of services or inform the customer that service is delayed due to an appointment back-up within (SC)2 locations. 
  • Assist with use of technology equipment within Collaborative Work Centers and other services such as mobile phone set up.
  • Manage the pick-up/drop-off of new and old technology equipment from employees; ensure equipment chain of custody remains across Hennepin County employees.
  • Conduct opening/closing procedures for (SC)2 or Collaborative Work Centers such as turning on floor monitors, unlocking cabinets and computer racks, and ensure locations are tidy and clean.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the flow of the appointments for the day/week for (SC)2 locations.
Need to have:
  • One of the following:
  • Two or more years of post-high school education.
  • An approved combination of post-high school education and related office clerical experience to equal at least two years.
  • Two or more years of related office clerical experience (or part-time related clerical experience to equal at two or more years of full-time related clerical experience).
  • 18 months or more of related office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program or the Healthcare Clerical Pathway Training program.
  • One year or more of related office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training program. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift and stack up to 65 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Experience:
  • Working with Microsoft Suite.
  • Providing customer service and front desk duties.
  • Handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
