Alumni-in-Residence: Sign Up for Office Hours with Christina Nieves '10 of the NYC Dept of Health & Mental Hygiene

The Loeb Center's Alumni-in-Residence program is excited to offer 20-minute, 1-on-1, informational office hour appointments with public health professional Christina Nieves ‘10.

Whether you’re seeking practical advice about careers in public health; you have a commitment to health more broadly and are open to where you might apply it; you want to hear more about how your passion for health equity can inform your future work; or are interested in learning how to navigate your academic interests towards potential next steps – you’ll find Christina to be a knowledgeable and supportive resource. 

While Christina is excited to speak with any interested students, she is particularly interested in serving as a connection to the field of public health for first-generation students at Amherst.

Christina Nieves ‘10 is a public health professional in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she serves as a Community Research and Evaluation Specialist at the Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness, providing research and evaluation support to public health programs aimed at reducing health disparities in New York City.

At Amherst, Christina was a biology major and a founding member of the Amherst Public Health Collaborative. A native New Yorker, she is currently a PhD candidate in epidemiology at CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, where her research focuses on the roles of social identities and neighborhood characteristics on health outcomes, and serves as a guest lecturer in public health to medical students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
