Graduate Assistant Appointment Student Support Services TRIO

The Graduate Assistant appointment will include direct responsibilities and active involvement in the development, delivery, and support of programs and services within the SSS program.

  • Assist in providing frontline reception and scheduling of appointments for the TRIO SSS Program; directs and refers visitors and students to appropriate college services; receives and directs incoming phone calls.
  • Help with contacting potential new SSS students. Help with information sessions and student application process to SSS.
  • Guide students in the completion of scholarships, TIP grant, FAFSA, and student assessments such as LASSI and Clifton Strengths Quest.
  • Assist with Peer Coach training and team meetings. 
  • Learn the GradReady program and help students complete GradReady financial literacy modules.
  • Help students connect to High Impact Practices.
  • Help students with the learning platform EduBlog for their e-portfolio work and support student use of EduBlog tools for archiving their learning, reflection, and documentation of their engagement in higher-order thinking.
  • Present a couple of modules in the first-year seminar and career planning and professional development seminar, and help with the implementation of support programing as related to these courses.
  • Help manage social media for SSS including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat
  • Assist with the planning, advertising, and implementation of SSS cultural and educational events such as the Student Success Breakfast, SSS study tables, pre-semester orientation, workshops, etc.
  • Serves as a team member in supporting the success of students and in developing cooperative working relationships with the UW-Parkside internal community.
  • Facilitate professional development seminar workshops for peer success coaches and students.
  • Support the development and updating of TRIO SSS Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Details
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at UW-Parkside.
  • This position is a year-round position. 
  • Reports to Director of Student Support Services TRIO program.
  • 20-25 hours a week (flexible office hours) prefer afternoon and early evening hours during the semester. More hours per week may be available during semester breaks.
  • Pay Rate: $13-$15 per hour.
