The Community Forestry Intern will aid in maintaining the tree database; participate in defective tree assessments; prune, mulch, and water trees in public right-of-way; work with the West Lafayette Tree Friends; perform landscape inspections for compliance; process defective tree removals; and, perform other tasks associated with the Community Forestry program. At the end of this internship, the intern will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of urban forestry.
Qualifications:
- Current student in Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Parks and Recreation, Land Conservation, or another closely-related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Tree and plant identification.
- Basic horticultural skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to use Microsoft Office.
