TJX is the leading off-price apparel and home fashions retailer worldwide, and Merchandising is the heart of our business. In fact, no other team impacts our bottom line more. We believe that we operate one of the most flexible business models in the world. It’s our flexibility that has enabled us to succeed through various economic and retail environments year after year.

If you have the passion and desire to become a business leader within Retail Merchandising, this is the program for you…this is the time to Discover Different.

Merchandising Basics: Two Divisions. One Goal.
Merchandising is comprised of two divisions, Buying and Planning & Allocation. They work together to drive sales and profit for TJX. Our Buyers are global travelers, sourcing from a universe of over 22,000 vendors and more than 100 countries to deliver amazing merchandise at exciting value to our customers every day.

Planning & Allocation impacts the day-to-day management of our business by analyzing financial data, anticipating consumer buying patterns, and managing inventory levels to ensure the right merchandise gets to the right stores at the right time.

From our inclusive culture to our Merchandising Career Path, TJX is the perfect choice for anyone looking to work hard—and have fun doing it! Our diverse team, with a wide array of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences makes our mission come to life.

The Opportunity: Never The Same Day Twice.
This development program is renowned in the industry for cultivating world-class buyers and future business leaders, and it’s a great example of what we mean by Discover Different. Our approach to Merchandising is unlike any other retailer, so we’ll make sure you have the right classroom and on-the-job training to give you a head start on a long-term career.

This career path begins through the Planning & Allocation School of Excellence (“PASE”). Here you will get an inside view of the business and a better understanding of our off-price model before moving into your first role as an Allocation Analyst within Merchandising Planning & Allocation. In this role, you will be assigned a specific product area and will be empowered to help drive sales by allocating the exciting mix of brands that our Buyers have purchased. You will do this by analyzing sales trends and anticipating consumer buying patterns and product trends. You will conduct store visits to evaluate merchandise assortments as well as interact with all levels of management.

In a business where you never experience the same day twice, here is a sampling of how you’ll be challenged to think creatively and drive for results:
• Analyze sales reports and make recommendations in the business
• Create allocation strategies for our stores
• Take direct responsibility for several multi-million-dollar product classifications
• Visit TJX stores and competitors to analyze/ evaluate the product mix
• Resolve merchandise issues with our Distribution Centers, Buyers, and Vendors

Of course, you won’t do it all alone. Every step of the way, you’ll benefit from the mentorship and guidance of our Learning & Development partners—something that will continue throughout your career.
