Intern, Tax Summer 2022

Throughout the 10 weeks you’ll work one-on-one with your team to complete department specific project work and have the opportunity to attend development sessions and trainings curated specifically for our interns. You’ll wrap up your internship with an end of summer presentation to our senior leaders and executive team. The Tax Department is seeking a motivated outgoing team player to fill the Tax Intern position. This position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work to coincide with internal and external deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This person will have frequent interaction with all levels of internal employees. As such the position provides the opportunity for exposure to a variety of facets within the Company’s Tax Department. We are looking for a person who is a self-starter willing to learn about the tax and book accounting within the real estate industry.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal tax fixed asset tax team in processing data for computing depreciation/amortization, accounting for additions/dispositions and reconciling monthly tax rollforward schedules
  • Assist with preparing REIT testing workpapers
  • Assist with tax research on issues that arise
  • Learn applications such as BNA, Yardi, CheckPoint
  • Support the tax team as special projects arise

Qualifications

As a condition of employment, all external candidates must provide proof that you are fully vaccinated from COVID-19 as of your first day of employment, unless a request for an accommodation had been approved. Fully vaccinated means two weeks has passed since the last dose in a two-dose series or two weeks after a single-dose shot.
 
  • Currently a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science/Business Administration, or a candidate for the Master of Science in Accounting or Taxation degree
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Team player who is organized, proactive, self-directed, conscientious and assumes accountability and responsibility for specific performance and work product
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Well-developed analytical, interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Proficient in using Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
