Assistant Public Services Director - Engineering

Hiring Range: $91,191 - $117,246/Year D.O.Q.

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for an Assistant Public Services Director to plan, direct, manage, supervise and oversee the programs, activities, operations and services of the Engineering Division of the Public Services Department which includes Engineering and Infrastructure Development Review, Stormwater Division, Engineering Project Management, Capital Improvement Program and Horizontal and/or Vertical Construction Management. The Assistant Director will coordinate assigned activities will other city departments and outside agencies; an provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Public Services Director. Depending on qualifications, assume responsibility of all or select Department functions in the absence of the Public Services Director; exercise City Engineer signatory authority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: 
Six years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience including four years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.  

Training: 
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. 

LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS

Required: 
Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability. North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Preferred:
Certified Construction Manager, Certified Flood Plain Manager, Certified Stormwater Manager, Project Management Professional, Municipal Administration course completion, Incident Command System (ICS).

From the time of closing the selection process is anticipated to last 4 - 6 weeks. The process will include, but may not be limited to, a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and diving history check.
