Oral Health Workforce Data Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Virginia Department of Health, Office of Health Equity is looking for a Program Coordinator to provide project management and research support to the Oral Health Workforce Grant. This is an exciting opportunity to support a team of analysts and researchers developing a comprehensive and up-to-date database of oral health providers in Virginia.

With guidance, the Oral Health Workforce Data Coordinator will provide project management and tracking; research, acquire and manage data; budget tracking, communication, coordination, and other data and administrative support for all aspects of the Oral Health Provider Database Project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Project coordination

a. Provide project management and administrative support, including communication with project sponsors, coordinating activities and meetings, ensuring work plan activities are completed on schedule and maintaining project and grant tracking tools.

b. Ensures compliance with all grant and contract requirements. Reviews deliverables for completeness and quality.

c. Liaisons with program partners, including state agency, academic, and non-profit partners, to coordinate and manage activities.

d. Works with communications staff to draft announcements, flyers, blog and social media posts and other content.

d. Provides other administrative and management support as needed.

B. Research and data support

a. Conducts academic literature, internet and community-based research to support projects and provide context.

b. Identifies, acquires and manages data for the research team, including documentation. Validates data sets including error checks, outlier checks, histograms, descriptive statistics and other data validation techniques.

c. Coordinates qualitative research and events, including scheduling, set-up, note-taking, transcription and direct participation.

C. Maintains VDH Data Quality & Security Standards

a. Follows the HIPAA privacy rule and industry standards to secure protected health information, personally identifiable information, and to information system security.

b. Documents business rules and processes for projects, including creating metadata.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Public Administration, Health Administration, Public Health, Social Science, or related degree. Graduate degree a plus. Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with project coordination/management.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Familiarity with data management and documentation.
  • Experience with web design in Word Press or similar tool preferred. Experience with statistical programs or packages such as R, SPSS, Tableau or SAS is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization, including infographics or online dashboards is a plus.

This position pays an hourly rate up to $20.00. Approximately 25 hours per week. This is a grant funded position ending August, 2022. Extension may be available. Position is located in the Madison Building, 109 Governor St, Richmond Va, 23219. Remote work is available.
