Film Festival Programming Department Internship (Remote)
Outfest is looking for an organized, self-starter with a proven interest in LGBTQIA+ film. This is an unpaid internship. Candidates must be current students, and receive course credit for this internship to be considered.
The intern will assist with administrative tasks vital to programming departmental operations. Tasks may include:
- Assisting in coordinating submissions
- Research on films and filmmakers
- Archival projects on Outfest alumni
- Database upkeep
- Script coverage
- Community outreach and engagement
- Filmmaker communications
- Other tasks as necessary
The intern’s responsibilities will mainly be in preparation for the Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival (April 2022), though some tasks may relate to the OutFronts (June 2022), the Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival (July 2022), and other year-round Outfest events and programming.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Computer-savvy and able to pick up on new systems quickly
- Detail-oriented
- Able to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc) and Google Docs
- Experience with Filemaker Pro, Airtable, or other databases preferred
- Knowledge of film editing and film exhibition formats a plus
INTERNSHIP SPECIFICATIONS
Outfest requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours a week, with a portion of that time overlapping with Outfest office house (Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm Pacific Time). Internship schedules are variable, and each intern will work with Programming to build a schedule that works for them, while meeting the needs of the department. We ask that interns work with the organization for a minimum of three months.
Outfest internships must be taken for college credit. Candidates need not be LA-based, and should have use of a laptop for their tasks.
