Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located at the edge of Montgomery Hall Park in Staunton, Virginia. We are a residential treatment facility that has served our community for more than 16 years. Liberty Point is currently recruiting for a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide behavior support services to residents attending our on-campus school, Liberty Point Academy, by addressing behaviors which interfere with school and unit performance. The primary function of the BCBA is to plan, develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options to meet the needs of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other behavioral and social/communication challenges. The BCBA also consults with and teaches instructional team members regarding pro-active, educational, programming, and behavioral supports; develops and implements comprehensive treatment plans; and collaborates with team members, related service providers, families and other agencies as appropriate.

The BCBA will work Monday - Friday with flexible scheduling; additional hours as needed. This is a salaried position. Salary is competitive and commensurate to education and years of experience.

Education:
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field with specialist knowledge of behavioral health and treatment philosophies and professional practices
  • BCBA certification and associated licensure preferred

Experience:
  • At least 2 (two) years of direct experience provided to special needs residents in the public/private school system, alternative school, or inpatient psychiatric program.

Successful candidate:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire
  • Will be responsible for completing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and assisting residents in identifying and developing better behavior alternatives
  • Will be responsible for establishing and maintaining data measurement, collection, and analysis systems for clients receiving behavioral interventions
  • Perform observations and work collaboratively with Education School Personnel, Mental Health Staff, and Clinical Staff to design, implement, monitor, and analyze individualized positive behavior support interventions; including ability to model, teach, and train staff in positive behavior strategies and in data collection techniques.
  • Will participate in professional development activities including on-site training and relevant off-site classes, workshops, etc.
  • Will display a high degree of professionalism in all activities and interactions with residents, staff, parents, agency personnel, community members, etc.

Successful candidates must also be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds,
  • Effectively use the full range of body motion,
  • Successfully complete and pass all components of Handle With Care & Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training,
  • Effectively perform facility approved First Aid and CPR techniques (CPR, First Aid, and HWC training will be obtained during new employee orientation),
  • Reflect behavior, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and be supportive of the facility and division philosophy, goals, and objectives,
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and via written documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality
