This position qualifies for our $1,500.00 sign-on bonus! A referral bonus is also available for most full-time positions. Pay starting at $15/hour.


Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is actively seeking highly-motivated individuals skilled in leadership and communication to fulfill the role of Mental Health Specialist/Technician. The ideal candidate will have a positive demeanor and sharp attention to detail, will demonstrate consistency and reliability, and must have a heart for helping mentally and behaviorally disabled teenage boys.


Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located at the edge of Montgomery Hall Park in Staunton, Virginia. We are a residential treatment facility that has served our community for more than 16 years. We care for adolescent boys who struggle with behavioral health conditions and co-occurring intellectual disabilities. Our Mental Health Specialists play a pivotal role in providing guidance, direction, and supervision to our young men.

We currently have the following career openings:

Full-Time: 1st shift* –* (7:00am – 3:30pm) – required to work every other weekend; 1st shift staff must meet the VDOE requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals
Full-Time: 2nd shift – (3:00pm – 11:30pm) – required to work every other weekend
Full-Time: 3rd shift – (11:00pm – 7:30am) – required to work every other weekend
  • We offer flexible scheduling options and do not mandate staff to stay over
  • We offer bonuses to staff who pick up extra shifts, which equates to an additional $6.25/hour

Job Description & Essential Duties:
  • Provide direct supervision and care for intellectually disabled adolescents in a residential setting
  • Provide daily living skills direction, examples, and demonstration to residents at different levels of ability
  • Provide positive and appropriate intervention, limit-setting, response, problem-solving, and guidance when needed
  • Provide effective, accurate, and legible documentation in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and follow-thru with resident treatment plans and interventions
  • Respond to children in a caring, mature manner while demonstrating sound professional boundaries with both residents and staff
  • Serve as a role model for residents and other staff
  • Assist in management of aggressive behavior

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field of study
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Preferred: Hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Successful candidates must also be able to:
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds,
  • Effectively use the full range of body motion, - sit, bend, kneel or stand for more than an hour if needed.
  • Reflect behavior, attitude, and appearance appropriate to the position and be supportive of the facility and division philosophy, goals, and objectives
  • Successfully complete and pass all components of Handle With Care & Verbal De-escalation Crisis Intervention Training,
  • Effectively perform facility approved First Aid and CPR techniques (CPR, First Aid, and HWC training will be obtained during new employee orientation)

Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.
