What Does the Internship Program Offer?
Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working with our technology teams.
You will be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday, June 6th and ends Friday, August 12th, 2022.

We’re looking for an energetic and talented Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the team at Pearson. In this role, you’ll be working on various technologies in the data centers and the cloud, working alongside various product teams and applications to transform the enterprise. 

Responsibilities 
● Ability to assist in solution design in a large enterprise or service provider during design, implementation and service phases 
● Work on design solutions which are large complex solutions with aggressive uptime, performance and availability targets 
● Architect, design and implement solutions that will require AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, EFS, VPC) 
● Interest in architecting solutions leveraging Cloud technology including but not limited to AWS, OpenStack, VMWare vCloud, and Azure 
● Experience with running hybrid Cloud solutions (on-prem and AWS) 
● Analysis of applications to understand data flows, to migrate its functionality from on prem to the cloud 
● Lead and ensure success of testing of applications, software and services on AWS platforms 
● General network experience, on-prem & cloud 
● Develop hybrid Cloud network solutions based on routing protocols and mesh Virtual Private Networks for connecting sites 
● Understand and translate on-prem firewall and load balancer technologies to AWS 
● Demonstrate experience in AWS networking of design and implementation 
● Proficient in both AWS infrastructure and on-premise legacy environments 
● Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in AWS 
● Collaboration with other Technology groups within the organization to successfully complete assigned projects 
● Support optimization of Pearson costs in the data centers and in the cloud 
● Build capability, competence and confidence with key business and technical stakeholders in the region 
● Detailed understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles and design tenants 
● Can interpret technical designs into business requirements and talk logically about the relationships between multiple technologies

● Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others 
Qualifications - External 
Minimum Qualifications: 
● Experience with Agile concepts and practices. 
● Knowledge of full-stack IT experience: *nix, Windows, hardware, network/firewall concepts, public cloud services, LDAP/Active Directory, DNS, automation tools (Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, Docker) 
● Experience with Enterprise networking routing, load balancing, and firewall (Cisco, F5, and CheckPoints) 
● Experience with AWS (ALB, ELB, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM) 
● Knowledge of various database technologies (NoSQL, SQL, Mongo, Cassandra) and AWS DB services (Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, etc) 
  
Preferred Qualifications 
● Currently enrolled in a college program, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related quantitative field
