Health Internship at Summer Camp!
Phantom Lake YMCA Camp in Mukwonago, Wisconsin is looking to fill their health intern for summer 2023. This is a live-in nursing position with 24 hours off each week (Saturday). Room and board (1 bed/1 bath apartment contained within our health lodge (2 bedrooms - one is shared with other health intern and the other house the volunteer RN (varies by week), 3 meals per day included). The Health Intern is responsible for assisting the Health Care Staff in maintaining the health and safety standards set forth by the State Health Department and camp’s risk management policy standards. The Health Intern is responsible for monitoring health care, maintaining records, and implementing health care plans. He or she will work closely with the RN at camp each week, as well as Phantom Lake’s overseeing RN. He or she must conduct all staff/camper arrival screenings according to camp’s guidelines. The Health Intern will assist in collecting all camper/staff medications, according to the doctor’s prescribed orders. Our Health Intern will also be present at both Resident and Day Camp check-in. He or she is responsible for maintaining stocked first aid kits at all locations at camp, as well as act as the liaison between camper/staff parents as per PLYC health care policies. He or she will also be responsible for maintaining a health logbook on CampMinder of all first aid, medications, etc. The Health Intern is also responsible for quick and responsible action during emergencies and drills. Must be prepared to handle large amounts of responsibility and remain level-headed in any situation. Must exhibit: integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, and respect.

Weekly Salary: $315 (negotiable based on experience)
Start Date: June 1, 2023 End Date: August 20, 2023
Location: Mukwonago, WI (30 minutes from Milwaukee; 1.5 hours from Chicago.)
Required Certifications: First aid, CPR, and AED. American Heart Association or Red Cross preferred. Emergency Oxygen certification desired but not required.
General Responsibilities: Reviewing medical forms, administering medication, talking with parents, basic first aid, and responding to medical emergencies.
What we are looking for:
MUST LOVE WORKING WITH KIDS. This is a live in position. You will work alongside another Health intern, and a volunteer registered nurse, who will also live in and change weekly. Must be organized, patient and enthusiastic. Be able to handle many different types of camper situations and think on your feet.
