The Role in Brief:
Account Manager, Fundraising & Development
The Account Manager serves as the day-to-day contact with college and university advancement or development professionals and is responsible for managing the execution of direct marketing campaigns designed to meet the institution’s fundraising objectives. The Account Manager works in cooperation with the Account Team, ensuring timely and accurate deployment of all marketing campaigns (paper and online).
This position is located in Richmond, Virginia.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and cultivate relationships with clients in collaboration with Strategic Leader (SL) that will include the following functions:
- Assist in leading meetings and conference calls with clients
- Define and lead clients to appropriate, cost-effective renewal and up-sell opportunities
- Develop proposals and written presentations for clients; participate in client presentation of the deliverables
- Present and lead clients to solid fundraising direct marketing strategies within the array of Advancement Marketing Services
- Collaborate with internal departments and oversee execution of direct marketing campaigns, including creative content, list and targeting, and client reporting/analysis.
- Develop understanding of client goals and communicate goals to account team.
- Own and execute administrative tasks daily in support of client marketing campaigns; coordinate and schedule meetings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years’ experience managing client relationships or fundraising as a primary responsibility; direct response marketing, higher education and account management experience, strongly preferred
- Proven customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with accelerating priorities
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Ideal Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ experience in direct response marketing (especially in annual giving), higher education and account management experience, strongly preferred
- Ability to listen, understand concerns, overcome resistances and follow through on resolutions
