Community Engagement Intern

Job Description
Working under the direction of the Social Impact and Community Engagement Manager, the Community Engagement Communications Intern would focus on internal communications and marketing of DO GOOD events and Social Purpose storytelling. This person would help create communications plans; draft copy for emails, messaging; draft graphics to promote events. The Community Engagement Communications Intern would also support DO GOOD events by taking photos, drafting social media posts, and drafting story about event on the DO GOOD blog on Connect. This person would also draft PowerPoint presentations for internal communications. The Community Engagement Communications Intern would follow internal marketing guidelines and schedules and ensure that the Social Impact story is present in all messaging. They may support other Community Impact initiatives related to social impact and community engagement objectives.
This internship goes from June 6, 2022- August 12, 2022. Are you available to commit to 20-30 hours a week, Monday through Friday, for the duration of this internship?

Essential Functions
Draft communications plans with support from Manager
  • Sit in meetings and draft communications plan based on internal communications best practices
  • Get feedback from Manager to refine plan and proceed with execution
  • Draft copy for all messaging – emails, talking points, slides
  • Draft graphics for all messaging – screens, slides, signage
 
Event communications support
  • Attend event to take photographs to use on post-event messaging
  • Report on event by drafting social media posts and stories for DO GOOD Blog
  • Incorporating feedback from Manager, post stories on DO GOOD Blog in a timely manner
 
Administration and event support
  • As needed, provide event support by contributing to planning, helping with set-up, and providing support to Community Engagement Coordinator
 
Other
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
  • Maintain strict adherence and compliance to all laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and internal controls specific to your role
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong writing skills, especially in marketing and copywriting
  • Strong graphics eye for creating signs, engaging PowerPoint slides, engaging images
  • Willingness to apply feedback and courage to make mistakes
  • Some experience in service sector – restaurant, retail, catering, events, festivals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid organizational, time management, and project management skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Experience
Minimum Qualification
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student with one of our six partnered accredited colleges or universities
  • Minimum of 24 completed academic hours
  • Data analytics experience (including school and professional assignments)
  • Must be bondable
 
Preferred Qualification
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required. Job may require travel to varied locations throughout Austin metro area
  • Bilingual Spanish / English preferred
