Medication Aide(Job Id 17714)

Join the field of Correctional Health at the Jameson Annex! Correctional Health staff provide health care to an underserved population in a secure clinic environment. Medication Aides work under the direct supervision of a nurse to perform basic patient care services to include medication administration. Medication Aides are full-time and work three 12-hour shifts, 9 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. and will be included in a weekend and holiday rotation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and climb up to five flights of stairs.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.

Licenses and Certifications:
This is not a licensed or certified position, but certified nursing assistants are encouraged to apply. If applicant does not have Medication Aide certification, we will provide training. 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Prior experience in a health care setting

Knowledge:

  • the principles of patient care, such as first aid and housekeeping;
  • medical terminology, medical equipment and supplies;
  • medications and reactions to medications;
  • basic arithmetic;
  • basic computer skills.

Ability to:

  • work with speed and accuracy in critical situations;
  • follow oral and written instructions in detail;
  • prepare records and reports;
  • maintain satisfactory relationships with other employees;
  • perform a variety of routine cleaning tasks;
  • maintain empathetic attitude toward patients;
  • perform routine procedures accurately;
  • maintain patient confidentiality.
