The Environmental Scientist will support various statewide projects and programs including the Pest Management Alliance and Research Grants programs, the Pesticide Use Reporting program, policy and legislation analysis, and public education and outreach. The incumbent will evaluate grant proposals, manage grant and contract projects, participate in scientific research and data analysis, and conduct outreach and education to promote integrated pest management (IPM) and the safe and effective use of pesticides while protecting public health and the environment. The incumbent may also analyze bills; develop fact-sheets and other outreach materials which help to develop urban and agricultural IPM programs; write and review research plans and experimental designs; provide pest management expertise; collaborate with University scientists, industry professionals, and others on research and implementation projects; make presentations at scientific and outreach seminars; and publish papers on pest management and/or DPR programs.
