Entry Level Engineer
Are you looking to start your career in engineering? The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an engineer to support to major decontamination and decommissioning (D&D) activities at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in a teaming environment. This assignment will require a self-starter who is willing to think outside the box and implement efficient and compliant practices while obtaining alignment from colleagues and oversight organizations.
Assigned duties include:
- Performing and/or reviewing engineering evaluations and analyses;
- Performing research to obtain and catalog documentation from past operations;
- Following the short- and long-range budget and project plans, and performing the prerequisite tasks and physical execution of the D&D work with the Project Manager, the rest of the D&D team, and the other NRF Departments.
- Implement the work model for major D&D projects which will require interaction with subcontractors and multiple government agencies.
- Good written and verbal communication skills are the foundation to success in this position to clearly document technical decisions and demonstrate and report on the progress of assigned tasks.
- Support the NRF D&D team in identifying, communicating, and implementing best practices and lessons learned across the NNL and providing metrics and quality evidence demonstrating the improvements on the cost and schedule of D&D projects.
Required Skills *
Associate:
- BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.
Intermediate:
- BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
- MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience
Preferred Skills
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications
- Project Management
- Knowledge or experience with Environmental Regulations such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liabilities Act (CERCLA)
- Knowledge or experience with Radiological Controls
