The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of consumer winning, holistic Packaging solutions for the Aussie Brand in NA as part of the Hair Care R&D Packaging organization. Aussie is the fastest growing brand in the NA portfolio with a variety of initiatives focused on serving the needs of the multi-cultural, Gen Z, textured-hair consumers. These programs require innovative and holistic packaging solutions that elevate the consumer Beauty experience, strength the Brand’s Gen Z credentials and deliver against Hair’s 2025 Responsible Beauty goals. In this role the candidate will collaborate with a broad range of cross functional partners including Design, Products Research, Marketing, and Product Supply in addition to external suppliers. The individual will also gain experience with a wide variety of packaging technologies.
 
This role includes strong technical work, including packaging fit for use testing and development, and new supply chain qualifications, as well as a high level of cross functional interaction, particularly with Design, Marketing, and Planning. As such, the candidate will work closely with global project team members to assure that all initiative success criteria are met. New packages must improve the lives of consumers in a way that deliver a successful business proposition, win with consumers, launch successfully, hit cost targets at startup, and integrate with the brand’s overall strategies and masterplan. In addition, the candidate will leverage a network of resources to expand the impact of the work and bring new ideas to the business. These include suppliers, design agencies, consultancies, and capabilities such as prototyping, modeling, and simulation.
 
Job Qualifications
 
Education:
    * A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Physics.
 
Strong technical thinking and problem solving skills – willingness and capacity to generate, process, and interpret data, and recommend actions. Candidate will build mastery in several package formats and methodologies and must be able to learn on the job. Technical understanding critically allows the management and representation of risk which is key to success in the role.
 
Think and act Decisively - to do well, the successful candidate needs to take ownership to develop and drive forward a large program of technical tests to support launch. A proven ability to turn consumer and customer needs into actionable requirements is desired.
 
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. This position requires interaction with other functions, such as Marketing, Product Supply, Design, and Product Development at different levels. Also, interaction with suppliers, domestic and international, will be frequent.
 
Project Management Skills and the ability to adapt to changes. R&D Packaging is often involved in multiple phases of the project with different options under development and frequent changes in scope, timing and/or resources. The ability to manage the overall work is critical to initiative delivery success. Lean understanding and a desire to help the company learn these methodologies is a plus.
 
Strong verbal and written communication skills. This role requires successful collaboration with resources around the globe. Keeping all resources “on the same page” and representing R&D Packaging on multifunctional teams requires excellent communication.
 
Experience with stock packaging and delivery systems is a plus.
 
Experience with Enovia is desired.
 
Travel expected to be in the 5-10% range.
